There is nothing like a fishing trip from a fishing charter. Deep out in the water, just you and the many species of fish you may encounter on your adventure. It is relaxing and exciting all at the same time.

What to Expect on your Fishing Charter

If you’ve never been on a guided fishing trip, or if you’re joining a fishing excursion in waters that you haven’t yet dropped a line in, you may be wondering what to expect on your fishing charter. First, you should always try to establish clear and consistent communication with your captain or mate before the trip. Communicate your expectations, ask any questions and understand all policies for the trip.

To ensure that you get the best experience possible, you’ll need to be patient. The captain and mate will boat out to specific spots where they believe you’ll have the best chance to catch fish. We will drop multiple lines in the water and wait for the fish to bite. In some cases, the captain will boat to additional areas to maximize your opportunities.

When you hook a fish, you won’t be left to fend for yourself. The captain and mate will be standing by to help you with whatever you need, even if that means they provide the extra strength needed to reel in the big one.

Will I Always Catch a Fish on a Charter?

The most common question individuals ask is: “Will I always catch a fish on a fishing charter?”

With most fishing charters, there is no guarantee that you will catch a fish. In fact, the best anglers in the world sometimes have days where they arrive back on land empty-handed. Fishing does require skill, and a great amount of knowledge, which your Captain possesses, but it’s important to remember that ultimately no one has control over nature.

Tipping the Mate:

Just as you would tip another service professional, such as a tour guide, waitress, or professional driver, you should provide your mate with a gratuity based upon the level of their service. Their knowledge and expertise, combined with their level of service, will make your charter unforgettable. Through it is discretionary, a tip of 20% is customary.
